Food For Thought

“This is America, where a white Catholic male Republican judge was murdered on his way to greet a Democratic Jewish woman member of Congress, who was his friend. Her life was saved initially by a 20-year old Mexican-American gay college student, and eventually by a Korean-American combat surgeon, all eulogized by our African American President.”

  1. Is this the same Allen (or Alan) Ginsberg who achieved fame in the 60s as a beat poet?

  2. No...he's dead. This is an Historian from Maine, or so said Mark Shields on The PBS NewsHour the other night. I'll be honest. I can find NO reference to an historian in Maine with that name online OTHER than the Shields quote. Is it a scam?

  3. I, too, paused for a second when I saw the name. I met Mr. Ginsberg back in 1976 or so when he commented positively on a publication I was working on. I knew he had passed away in 1997. Thanks, Tim, for always checking your facts.
