That's what critics of today's ruling are calling the decision...a death penalty for businesses, because it allows Arizona and other states to revoke the business license of a company that knowingly hires illegal immigrants.
Then again, companies wanted personhood when it came to being able to spend money without restrictions on political campaigns, and were happy when SCOTUS gave it to them, no? Live by the court, die by the court.

The history if artificial personhood and business hearkens back to our nation's pre-Civil War era, when businesses' owners were DIRECTLY accountable for EVERY action their business did. After the CW, the laws began to change, and the recent ruling to which you refer deals in essence with only one minute part of corporations. It may be interesting to note that Sarbanes-Oxley sought to reign in some of the excesses which were previously legal.
