Across Alabama, commemorations will be held tomorrow to remember the tornadoes on that date a year ago.
253 people died in Alabama during an outbreak that broke records...More than 60 tornadoes across the state! Hackleburg, Tuscaloosa, Cullman, Pleasant Grove, Eclectic and Lake Martin, just some of the communities slammed that day. These photos are from Pleasant Grove, three months after the storms hit.
At 9:00 tomorrow morning, Governor Bentley will end his week-long visits to the places hit in 2011 with a commemoration at the State Capitol. You can watch it in Montgomery live on CBS 8.
[UPDATE: A memorial has been dedicated in Pleasant Grove for the eleven people who died there. While the deaths were horrible for the families of those who were killed, it is amazing there wasn't a higher death toll, when you look at the destruction.]
