Montgomery Mall

There's a new plan for the old Parisian Department Store at The Montgomery Mall: use it as Technology Public School.

That word came last night during a forum at Carver High School.
That would mean projects at both ends of the old mall will be financed by taxpayers. The city is building a new police and fire facility on the other end.

But somebody needs to tell The River's Edge Church in Montgomery. Their website says they are still buying the store for a new home.

The old mall has been mostly empty for a decade...city officials have been trying to fill the empty space for almost as long.

  1. The city "is building" a new fire and police station at Montgomery Mall?

That has been the official position for many months. But whenever I drive past the mall, there seems to be no construction going on.

Do the construction workers sneak in and out under cover of darkness?

  2. Hey Jay....There are city trucks there each day when I drive home...they are doing the initial interior demolition work before contractors do the heavy lifting. I'll post some of the pictures showing what it will look like when it is done soon...

  3. How about some pictures of those city trucks at the mall?

Seeing is believing, and all that.
