The $685,000 Sting

ASU stung for $685,000
Alabama State University in Montgomery has agreed to pay Joseph Silver a big sum of money (big for everyone except Government, including Education) to go away. And the divorce agreement forbids anyone to criticize the other side in the dispute.
There are several audits being conducted of ASU after Silver said he was suspended because he asked too many questions about potential financial wrongdoing at the University.
One member of the Board of Trustees refused to agree to the settlement and asked where the money was coming from. If there was an answer to her question, I don't know what it was! The dispute mars the recent grand opening of the ASU football stadium.

  1. Nice non-work, if you can get it.

The "Governor's Emergency Fund" is paying this largesse. I suppose the cost of litigation would be more than the settlement, but still . . . .

I'm not critizizing Dr. Silver. He found something, and certain folks said that it's off-limits.
