The Navy side of the Alabama Civil War Monument, Montgomery.

     Perhaps the last funerals for U.S. Civil War sailors will be performed next Friday in Arlington Cemetery.
     The remains were found when the turret of the USS Monitor was raised from the sea floor in 2001. Most of the crew survived the sinking.
     A few years ago a funeral was held in Mobile for the remains of a Confederate Sailor from the CSS Alabama. See the CSS Alabama blog for more information.
