Early Childhood Failures. By Parents.

     A PBS story lays some childrens' educational failure at the feet of uneducated, poor parents, who, it says...

 ....are not talking to their children, interacting with their children, insisting they do their homework and so on. Should we say it's a failure? Let's say it's an error of omission.

     The children I read to the other day in a Montgomery Public School program called HIPPY seemed to be getting the attention needed to solve exactly that problem...it is teaching the parents to offer the kind of support the PBS report says is lacking.
