Girly Scientists

Sexism starts early in life and rarely lets go. And that's part of the reason so few girls go into the sciences as a career.
A NY (paywall) Times article profiles a group up north trying to convince girls they can be scientists.

And this Sunday morning in Montgomery, you can watch a new Public Affairs program that includes an interview with a) a girl scout PR person, b) a Hyundai Motor Manufacturing PR person, and c) a real-life girl scout. The topic is similar to the article...a Hyundai funded program to match girls with Auburn University scientists for a day of learning.
The ABC Montgomery program is called "Your Community This Week" and it airs Sunday's at 9:00AM, right after George Stephanopoulos's network program.
    Oh, yea, I host it.
The first segment, which I hope you will also find interesting, is about organ donation. Did you know less than 2% of people who die in  hospitals are able to donate their organs?
     Enjoy.
