A column by David Pogue about the T-Mobile announcement of a new kind of cell-phone service.
And here I sit with no contract, and an annoying text from my company informing me they are charging me $20 extra this month.

Perfect timing.

Time to fire the carrier I have used since before they had any competition at all.

[UPDATE: I did just that on Saturday, though there were hoops to jump through. In my last conversation with their customers service folks: "We can offer you unlimited free texts!" Really? Where was that offer when I was complaining these recent weeks? And don't listen to them if they say your existing phone "can not be unlocked". Ask your new carrier and they can recommend a third party site to do it. It took me $20 and 20 minutes for the unlock, all done online.]
