So why does Alabama's coastline end abruptly on Perdido Beach Boulevard at the FloraBabma Lounge? (which is really 100% in Florida, by the way).
Is Florida a state so much in need of more coastline that it managed to grab all of that land due South of three-quarters of Alabama?
The folks at The News-Herald in Panama City have republished an interesting article about how the North-West Florida coast became Florida territory instead of a continuation of Alabama as it would appear to (and should!) be.
And it says there have been several attempts to have that part of the panhandle made a part of Alabama.
A few years back, the original line marking the end of Alabama and the start of Florida was rediscovered, as reported in The Tuscaloosa News. It didn't change the designation of 31n degrees latitude being the line at all.
