M(S*)MMM # 398 --- Why The GOP is Right.

The National Republican Party is doing battle with two of the networks because they are producing mini-series about Hillary Rodham Clinton, a presumed Democratic candidate for President in 2016.
In retaliation, the party has banned NBC and CNN from hosting any of the GOP presidential primary debates.

Good for them! The primary elections are private events held strictly to allow a party to select a candidate who will run in the real election in November. And they can hand the broadcast rights to anyone they want, and take them away too.

But here's the catch. The GOP (and the Democrats too) must start paying for their own primary elections.
I don't care if they cheat their way through that process.
I don't care if the primary is fixed and the nomination goes to the person who paid the most bribes.
They can name a party nominee anyway they want and let that person run in November...as long as they pay for it and the real election includes strict limits on campaigning and campaign financing.
Oh yea, so-called "third party" candidates must have much easier access to the November ballots too.

And that's today's election reform essay.
