A fella who has done repairs at my house over the years presented me with a nice mystery this week.
He found the object in a house being redone in Florida--he had the rights to salvage---and wonders what it might be. I told him I would post it and see if visitors have any ideas.
It is about eight inches long, intricately carved in a form that appears to be boat-like, and--when you remove the wooden pin and take it apart, looks like it may have been carved as a pipe. But there is no hole in the other end of the "pipe part"...yet there is some evidence of burning in the place where you would expect tobacco to go. Hmm. Asian? Indonesian? Caribbean?
Suggestions?
