1942 Dir: Michael Curtiz Starring Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman, Paul Henreid 102 mins 35 mm
In
1941, WWII is turning a nightclub in Casablanca into a pool of
intrigue and danger. Rick Blaine (Bogart), who owns the club, has
remained carefuly neutral, but in a time of war, "neutral" can only last
for so long. After gaining a reputation for serving everyone, no
matter what side they're on, Rick comes into possession of letters of
transit which guarantee safety to anyone who has them. Later that
night, the love of his life, Isla Lund (Bergman), walks in, wanting to
use the letters to save her husband and the renowned fugitive Czech
Resistance leader, Victor Laszlo (Henreid). Rick refuses, but too many
people suspect he has the letters, and he'll be forced to choose a side
before the night is through.
