IBM Looks Ahead. With a $3-Billion Budget.

A "Trash 80" Radio Shack. The PAST of computing.
And what do they see? Transistors inside computer chips that are this small:

.....about a thousandth the width of a human hair, a tenth the width of a virus particle, or the width of 16 potassium atoms side by side.

I read as much of the CNET story as I could before my eyes glazed over, but if you are curious about the computer hardware to come (if hardware is even the word for these possible developments!) this is a great story about an IBM initiative.
