Everyone seem to think that Brian Williams is toast at NBC, that he will never return to the anchor desk because of allegations that he was not just a liar, but a serial liar.
There have been similar allegations about Bill O'Reilly, and a NY Daily News columnist writes that Williams must be held to a higher standard than O'Reilly, who he describes as
"...nothing more than an opinionated talk-show host who also writes books."
They say Mike Hubbard must go, after emails released on Friday showed him begging lobbyists for favors (like a job), and then begging for information so he could show his new bosses he was actually doing something for his considerable salary.
"the hubris of it all is enough to make one retch."
The editors argue that...
.... innocent until proven guilty does not absolve one from the consequences of such serious charges or shield one from public censure. Once charged, politicians (like police officers, teachers, corporate leaders or public employees) may face suspension or firing. Their stature is diminished among friends, neighbors, peers, the public.
Hubbard's original trial on ethics charges was originally set to begin tomorrow, but the date was changed.
Nonetheless, the editorial calling for his dismissal sets the tone for a session starting on Tuesday that may be part legislative meeting and part judge and jury.
