Update: The Greyhound Freedom Rides Museum Bus

A big flatbed truck arrived in Montgomery this morning to carry the 1950's era bus to the location where it will be restored, hopefully in time for the 60th anniversary of the attack on freedom riders and reporters by Klan members, as police mostly looked the other way on May 20, 1961.

The bus was donated by the Greyhound Museum in Minnesota.

It will undergo an extensive restoration.

There is no way to know for sure if this bus was among those that carried Freedom Riders from the North to the South, but is of the same era.

Freedom Rides Museum staff and supporters
were on hand to see it off on the 12-hundred mile journey...

Watch the story tonight on Alabama News Network* in Montgomery---CBS 8 at 5:00, 6:00 or 10:00, or on ABC Montgomery at 5:30 or 10:00.

(*yes, I am retired, but ANN was there as I was, and my video efforts on this site are, shall we say, limited (-: )
I produced an earlier ANN story about the bus, in July of last year, and you watch it HERE.
