Can We Keep the "White" out?

As you may know a 40-Million + water park has been announced for a 120 acre site along Maxwell Boulevard near the U.S. Air Force Base in Montgomery.

The Montgomery Advertiser newspaper headline the next day:

Multimillion dollar whitewater park, outdoor center coming to downtown Montgomery

(I emboldened the word "whitewater")

May I suggest we not call it a "whitewater park"?

Montgomery carries enough baggage from the Civils (War and Rights) to be sensitive to use of "white" or "black".

The City closed this pool and the zoo in Oak Park.

And then there's the time the city closed the public swimming pools, rather than allow little black children to use them.

Water is fine, White, not so much.
