From the Alabama GOP about the U.S. House vote to impeach President Trump.
"While the outcome of today's vote comes as absolutely no surprise, it does not negate the malfeasance by the Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee. This entire process has been nothing more than an attempt to undo the outcome of the 2016 election voted on by the American people."
OK, a question: Was the impeachment of Democratic President Bill Clinton also an attempt to undo his (1996) election?
And the same question about the impeachment of Republican President Richard Nixon. Was it too "an attempt to undo the outcome of his (1972)... election voted on by the American people."
Yes or no. You can't have it both ways.

I'm no constitutional scholar, but it seems to me that a president who was elected and duly sworn in, cannot be "undone." The president can (and in this case should) be removed, but that person is still listed as president for that time in office.
