The offer of $1-Billion dollars in taxes and fees from the Porch Band of Creek Indians to the state of Alabama requires me to repost a Billion Vs Million graphic from years ago...
The tribe's TV commercials offer $1-Billion Dollars the first year and $30-Million Dollars in subsequent years in return for being provided exclusive "Class A" casino gambling in the state.
That is a lot of money, but put those numbers in perspective.
As I posted on December 29th, the two major state budgets for Alabama total some $9.2 Billion a year. So while $1-Billion is not a pittance, it is only enough to pay about 1/10th of a single year's state spending, and the 30-Million in annual payments to follow?
Look at this graphic to comprehend that amount compared to the billions spent each and every year.

It's all a matter of perspective, though.
Right now the state of Alabama gets zero dollars from the tribes casino operations.
The annual money being offered would pay for about 1/10th of the money requested for 2020 by just The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources: $350,935,921.
