I drove around Downtown just before and after 7:00AM, to show what this weird CORVID19 time looks like.
There not much to see.
We've been coronavirused, and few people are going to work. That makes it a sort of an un-rush hour:
There's traffic on I-85, but nothing like a normal workday.
Arba Street, which runs parallel to I-85, was virtually empty.
The Alabama Legislature was supposed to be in session today, and normally that would mean few if any parking spots available on Union Street between the Capital and The Statehouse.
The session is on hold till next Tuesday, March 31, when they'll decide what to do.
Remember AEA Week? It was a kind of Spring Break when schools were closed.
Oh, and AEA was The Alabama Education Association, the non-union union representing teachers and other school employees. It's now a toothless tiger, but back in the day, AEA under the late Paul Hubbard virtually picked who would win elections.
Across from the capitol, bikes available, but no bike riders in sight this corona-morning.
Looking from the Capitol toward Lower Dexter, Hello? Anybody home???
The YMCA locations in Montgomery are closed (except for some daycare for the children of paramedics etc). And the parking lot of the Downtown "Y" is empty.
