Genesis (a Hyundai luxury brand) reportedly trademarked six model names for electrified cars (most likely all-electric). The first one is expected in 2020.
The State of Alabama, and the city of Montgomery, are very interested in what Hyundai does, or doesn't do. The only U.S. Hyundai plant is here, and the thousands of workers there assemble only gasoline engine Hyundai models.

There is an expansion underway at the plant to the tune of $400 Million+ to add a light truck to the mix...the Santa Cruz. The first vehicles are expected to come off the assembly line in 2021, and that's right around the corner.
But what about electric vehicles. That appears to be the future of automobiles. Will Montgomery play a part? Hyundai makes the Kona electric...but not in the U.S.
"The Kona Electric gives you an astounding EPA-estimated All-Electric Range of 258 miles* with an efficiency of an EPA-estimated 132 MPGe City miles, powered by a potent 64.0-kWh battery system. A battery warranty that lasts a decade."
Can Montgomery's huge Hyundai plant survive the electric conversion of the auto industry if only gas driven vehicles are being made here?
