APT & BCA Present the Corporate Side of The Corvid19 Saga

The Business Council of Alabama (BCA) is producing an hour long program on Alabama Public Television tonight to show small businesses how to obtain federal government loans and other assistance during the Covid19 pandemic.

I asked APT's acting Executive Director if there was a written contract between the public TV Network and the business lobbying group, and whether any effort would be made to present the workers part of the equation. Here how Phil Hutcheson replied to those questions:

1---Is BCA paying for the program? How much? Please send me a copy of the contract between APT and BCA. – The BCA is not paying anything for this show and there is no contract.  We are doing this strictly as a public service to get information out to small business owners about the resources available through the SBA to allow small  businesses to remain open and retain employees.
2---Will the program be presented to viewers as representing only the viewpoint of BCA? – The show is informational only and is not an opinion show.
3---Will anyone on the program represent workers? Or even the few unions that exist in Alabama? – The guests on the show will be Governor Kay Ivey, Lt. Governor Will Ainswoth, Attorney General Steve Marshall, Secretary of Labor Fitzgerald Washington, Carl Jemison, CPA, Rosemary Elebash from the NFIB and Jason Isbell from the Alabama Bankers Association.

You can watch the show tonight at 7:00pm on the main APT Channel statewide.
(Disclosure: as you may know, I worked for APT as host of For The Record for about a decade, ending in 2009, during the Great Recession.)
