Open Alabama Protest in Montgomery

I'll be generous and say there were several dozen protestors in downtown Montgomery this afternoon, many in their cars, driving around the capitol blowing their horns. But as soon as I spotted this man on the right, I knew he would be the media star.

He was not the only one holding a flag, but I was sure his sign would capture the collective media attention.

It was catchy, and I knew he would get lots of media captures...even though needing a haircut is one of the minor annoyances of the Covid19 stay-home orders, and, frankly, he doesn't look like he needs one.

And sure enough:

Other signs were more to the point.

Including one posted at the base of the capitol steps where the protestors planned to speak to their supporters.
But when they arrived, police cars were blocking the roads leading to those steps. One said they were told the roads had to be closed because of road work. If that's so, it was invisible road work.

Just prior to the protest, Governor Ivey held a news conference about Covid19, saying the shut-down will continue till at least April 31st, next Thursday.
