The Daily Beast is retelling the story of Richard Nixon plotting to pin the blame for the shooting of Alabama Governor George Wallace on the left/liberals.
It's not the first time it has been reported, but still interesting and worth a read...especially for those not well-versed in Arthur Bremer's shooting and wounding Wallace almost 50 years ago as he campaigned for Governor in Maryland.
Items related to the shooting are in the possession of the Alabama Department of Archives and History, like this newspaper, and the clothes Wallace was wearing at the time.
Archives also has the first wheelchair Wallace used. He would never walk again after the shooting.
