The Mayor is quoted in the N.Y. Times: “Richmond is no longer the capital of the Confederacy — it is filled with diversity and love for all — and we need to demonstrate that.”
Meanwhile, the statue of Davis in the 1st Capitol of the confederacy, Montgomery, still stands, as do other monuments and symbols in Alabama of the attempt to overthrow the U.S. Government.
