The Confederate Battle Flag in These Photos was taken down by Governor Bentley.

"MONTGOMERY, Ala. — The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) today released an update to its Whose Heritage report which tracks symbols of the Confederacy on public land across the United States:

Total number of Confederate symbols removed since George Floyd’s death (May 25, 2020):
30 symbols have been removed or relocated from public spaces (24 monuments removed; 1 Flag (MS); 5 monuments relocated)

Since the Charleston church shooting in 2015:
115 total symbols have been removed from public spaces
87 monuments have been removed or relocated from public spaces (78 monuments removed; 9 monuments relocated)

Nearly 1,800 Confederate symbols remain on public land; 739 of those symbols are monuments."

One of those removed is a statue of Robert E. Lee at Lee High School in Montgomery. There are still many others Confederate Symbols in the former Capitol of The Confederacy. The Montgomery School Board as agreed to change the name of that school and three others named for Confederate Individuals.

Perhaps the biggest is the memorial to the confederate war dead on the capitol building grounds (photos above, though the confederate battle flags were removed by Governor Bentley). What should be done about it? Move it to the confederate burial ground at Oakwood Cemetery. Imagine the cost!
