And actual police reporting is even more so, especially when there has been a death.
Here's a reminder that the same journalism ethics that should be in effect for political reporters should also cover those covering police:

Reporters must remember they are supposed to presume innocence, especially on the part of suspects, but also for officers. Stick to the facts, and consider the source.
