Remember when newspapers (remember them?) would make endorsements in presidential races?
I thought about it today in looking at the largest daily newspaper in Alabama...The Montgomery Advertiser (Yes, it's true! The Advertiser publishes papers every day of the week, the other formerly largest, The Birmingham News, The Mobile Register, and The Huntsville Times, dropped back to several days a week years ago.
But I haven't seen an endorsement in The Advertiser, and apparently the days when it made a difference are long gone.
Look at this 2016 election endorsement chart from Wikipedia:
And you know where that got us.
We voted absentee/early today, even though I have argued that the Secretary of State is encouraging people to lie by voting that way, claiming they have an illness that prevents them from going to vote in person on November 3rd, even when have no such illness.
There was a good crowd at the Montgomery County courthouse when we went to early/absentee vote today, and it took about two hours. It was hot, and at one point, I was feeling ill from the heat and not having had lunch, but managed to get through it all.
Now to see what happens on the actual election day!
