From Martin McCaffery at The Capri Theatre:
The Capri Theatre in Montgomery will re-open to the public on Friday, November 27.
Closed due to COVID-19
concerns since March of this year, the Capri Theatre is opening with
limited capacity, a shortened week, and new safety protocols.
The opening feature will be The Personal History of David Copperfield,
starring Dev Patel, Hugh Laurie, Tilda Swinton and Peter Capaldi. Shows
will be Friday through Monday at 4:00pm and 7:00pm. No shows Tuesday
through Thursday.
"We are cautiously
re-opening in the safest manner possible," said Capri Theatre director
Martin McCaffery. "We want to present an environment where everyone
feels safe and welcome and can again enjoy the movie going experience."
"Thanks to grants, loans and
especially the support of the Capri Theatre membership, we have been
able to pay bills and keep the theatre operating while waiting to safely
re-open," said McCaffery. "These next few weeks will be a trial run to
learn how best to operate in this new environment."
Through a grant from the Central Alabama Community Foundation, the Capri Theatre was able to purchase the equipment and supplies it needed to implement safety protocols for the theatre. These protocols will include temperature checks, frequent sanitation, improved ventilation and air filtering, and appropriate social distancing in the lobby and theatre seating.
"World wide so far, there
has not been a single COVID-19 outbreak traced back to movie theatres,"
said McCaffery. "We have no intention of being the first."
"If you do not feel safe
coming to the theatre at this time, please stay home. We understand. And
if you do not feel well, please stay home. And if you do not want to
wear a mask and follow the social distancing guidelines, please, please
stay home," McCaffery emphasized.
UPDATE: I am a fan of The Capri, but I have to point out that Variety reports Saturday evening some 700 theaters in the U.S. went back into lockdown because of the increased Covid19 rates.
