For still fully-unexplained reasons, 2nd District Rep. Martha Roby is abandoning her Congressional Seat.
Fellow Republican Barry Moore will take her place one month from today, on January 3rd.
He'll face the same challenge as she did...being a member of the minority (Republican) U.S. House party.
On the other hand Democratic President -Elect Joe Biden has pledged cooperation, so we'll see if the freshman representative accepts the offer.
On January 5th, two days after Moore assumes office, Georgia
voters will decide in a runoff which party will have the majority the U.S. Senate when they vote in two run-off elections for the state's two senate seats. If they win both seats, it would give Democrats control of the upper house too. And that would mean all but one of Alabama's nine member Congressional delegation (seven House members and both U.S. Senators, will be in minority. The exception would be Democratic Rep. Terri Sewell.
