Landing Day

 Today is the day the latest NASA Mars Rover will land on Mars.

Perseverance is expected to enter Mars atmosphere at 2:48 this afternoon (Central Time) and land at 2:55pm.

A lot has to go right during those seven minutes, and because it is all happening so far away, the NASA launch team (and the rest of us) will be awaiting word that it all worked as planned. It takes 11 minutes for a radio signal to reach Earth. Whew.

     Among other things, the rover carries with it a small helicopter that scientists hope will become the first craft to fly on another planet.
