1st Night Blooming Cereus bud forming

 

Last year we had one bloom...and missed it. Sometimes they die before growing much.

I'm more vigilant this year, and here is the first. It will be about a week to ten days before it opens and looks something like these, from 8/23 2009. The flowers are beautiful...and the aroma!!

The original plant came as a clipping from my brother when he lived in N.Y. He got his clipping from a retired actress. And I have given clippings to dozens of people over the years.
