UPDATED--------Kia now....................will Hyundai follow?

New Corporate Design for Kia, 2021 – Blackspace – Brand Experience Agency

The Atlanta-Journal Constitution reports the Kia plant in Georgia, just across the state line with Alabama, will halt production briefly because of a shortage of electronic chips.

"Kia’s spokesman said the South Korean-based company will closely monitor supply chain conditions in hopes of minimizing the impact on its 2,700 employees at the West Point facility, which is near Alabama’s border."

A similar shortage closed the Montgomery Hyundai plant earlier this Summer, but so far that plant has continued operating. Hyunai is reportedly going to manufacture its own chips, but they won't be available till next year.

The paper reports production resumed quickly:

"....regular production resumed Wednesday, and would include all three shifts."
