WRONG Turn Signal

Just last night I saw a vehicle ahead of me signal for a right-hand turn, and then turn left. I did not notice the make or model of the vehicle, but it might have been a Hyundai or Kia? And today's news is this item from ABC:

"DETROIT -- Hyundai and Kia are recalling more than 550,000 cars and minivans in the U.S. because the turn signals can flash in the opposite direction of what the driver intended.

Hyundai says software in a junction box may not properly interpreting signals. The Korean automaker says it doesn't know of any crashes or injuries from the problem.

Dealers will update the software at no cost to owners. Hyundai will begin mailing notification letters to customers on Nov. 19, while letters will go to Kia owners starting Nov. 12."

What's interesting is this: the problem dates back to vehicles as early as 2015, yet it is only now prompting a recall? Maybe I am right about people here not using their turns signals?
