Listen Up Alabama Homeowners!!!

“It doesn’t matter if you believe in climate change; your insurance company does,” said Nick VinZant, senior research analyst for QuoteWizard, a subsidiary of Lending Tree, the online mortgage company. “The realities of that are going to be reflected moving forward.”

Alabamians who own property may find the cost of insuring that property against flooding may change soon, reports The Washington Post.

That's because of a new way FEMA is calculating flood dangers...called Risk Rating 2.0

It finds a lower or higher flood risk for Alabama, resulting in increases or decreases of  +/- $10- $20 a month in flood insurance. You can search the database by zip code. There's a semi-large learning curve in figuring out how to work the program, but heck..there's rain in the forecast for the Montgomery area for Sunday - Tuesday, so enjoy!
