Historic Montgomery Alabama

It is not much to look at, but this old hotel and the stores that used to be open on the ground floor are an important part of Montgomery History. It is the only high-rise building in the Centennial Hill neighborhood. Alabama News Network produced a story about the old hotel, including an inside tour, in February of 2017. Read it HERE. A go-fund-me effort at the time raised only $250.

(left) This view is diagonally across the street from the old hotel building. The Retirement Systems of Alabama is going to build one of its green-roof high-rise buildings on the site

(right) One another corner of Jackson and High Streets, Valeria Smedley (below) has opened a nice combination coffee shop and tourist souvenir store.

While some people have complained about RSA's building plans, it can't do anything but help the tourist trade to her business.

Plus, why not add another green roof to the skyline?
