Take your choice:
First watch the 12:00 minute Times Opinion video that eviscerates the poultry industry HERE. ("Chicken is the most popular meat in the United States. That has come at a devastating cost for the chickens as well as the farmers contracted to raise them.")
Or read the reaction from the chicken producer lobbying arm first:
“The New York Times Opinion video, “The True Cost of Cheap Chicken,” is a vegan propaganda piece whose goal is to make meat more expensive, as clearly articulated in the final line of the video, “Chicken should be $6 a pound, not $1 a pound.” The activist group behind the video, Mercy for Animals, spends tens of millions of dollars a year imposing their agenda on consumers –which is eliminating animal agriculture and meat – and ultimately encouraging a vegan lifestyle." (FULL React is HERE).
Poultry is a BIG business in Alabama:
"...there are approximately 3,000 poultry growers in the state, primarily in Cullman, DeKalb, Marshall, and Coffee Counties, though nearly 50 counties have producers. In total, approximately 86,000 Alabamians are employed directly in the poultry industry or in industries that support the poultry industry. This workforce is highly diverse, and as seen in many agricultural and food enterprises, the portion of this labor force of Hispanic descent has increased in the last decade, predominantly in the processing plant workforce."
