Down it went!

The 650-Foot long car carrier ship Felicity Ace that caught fire with $100-Million worth of cars on board has sunk to the bottom of the Atlantic as it was being towed.

One report indicated it sunk in water about 9,800 feet deep*.

The N.Y. Times reports:

"Two weeks after catching fire, a mammoth ship that was transporting thousands of luxury cars sank on Tuesday morning about 253 miles off the Azores,** according to the company that managed the vessel.

The ship, the Felicity Ace, went down at about 9 a.m. local time after tilting starboard, plunging about 4,000 cars — including more than 1,000 Porsches and 200 Bentleys — into the sea, according to the company, MOL Ship Management."

Losses? Marinelink.com reports:

"The 60,118 GT roll-on, roll-off vehicle carrier (RoRo) Felicity Ace was built in 2005 by Japanese shipbuilder Shin Kurushima Dockyard, and owned by Japan's Snowscape Car Carriers S.A. It was worth a current market value of $31.50 million, according to VesselsValue.

Insurance experts have said the incident could result in losses of at least $155 million for the car manufacturers."
