Greg Abbott canceled his planned appearance at the NRA convention and instead pre-recorded a video in which he was dismissive of calls for gun reforms."Remember this: There are thousands of laws on the books across the country that limit the owning or using of firearms, laws that have not stopped madmen from carrying out evil acts on innocent people in peaceful communities," he said.
So, Governor, should we use the same rationale and apply it to other crimes?
- There are dozens of laws against statutory rape, yet it happens again and again. Eliminate them?
- Police brutality is against many laws, state and federal, yet bad cops continue to violate them. Ignore those laws?
- Elder abuse/taking advantage of elderly people is a violation of many laws....yet it continues!!! Make believe those laws don't exist?
Shall, we, Governor Abbott, stop prosecuting those laws since they too have not "stopped madmen
from carrying out evil acts on innocent people in peaceful
communities...??????"
Funny (or not) that you would give up on law and order when it is convenient for you.
