The Texas Law That Has Banks Saying They Don’t ‘Discriminate’ Against Guns

Recent legislation requires firms to declare that they don’t “discriminate” against the firearm industry — or risk losing lucrative business with the state.

HERE is a copy of the bill creating the law.

Could the NRA have lobbied for this legislation???

Yup. From the NRA website:

Also earlier today, the (Texas) House approved Senate Bill 19, NRA-backed legislation that discourages banks, payment processors, insurers, and other financial services providers from discriminating against members of the firearm and ammunition industries, on an 86-60 vote.  The legislation prohibits businesses that engage in this practice from contracting with governmental entities in the Lone Star State.  Taxpayer dollars should not be used to benefit the bottom-line of corporations that are actively working to erode the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding Texans.  The measure, a priority of Lt. Governor Patrick, now goes back to the Senate for consideration of House amendments.  NRA would like to thank Rep. Gio Capriglione (R-Southlake) for his hard work shepherding this bill through the House!

Could Alabama copy Texas? The state is already trying, though according to one AP story in 2016 no action had been taken:

"No recent action has been taken in Alabama and Missouri on bills introduced to prohibit discrimination against firearms businesses."
