The MLK Holiday

Language and vocabulary can tell you a lot about a person.

This is from an AL.COM story about Monday's holiday:

"Is MLK Day considered a federal holiday?

MLK Day is considered a federal holiday, so not only will schools and libraries be closed, most federal and state offices will be closed.

All federal employees are paid even if they receive the day off. Many private-sector employees will also receive paid time off or special holiday pay ."

Later in the AL.COM story, they also use the word "considered":

"Because the post office is considered a federal entity, the United States Postal Service will not be open and operating on Monday."

What's with the use of the word "considered"?

MLK Day IS a federal holiday, not just "considered" to be one.

The way it is written makes me think the writer questions the validity of Monday as a recognized Federal Holiday. It IS a Federal Holiday, not just "considered one".

Language is important!
