A Woman in France has become perhaps only the second human to be struck by a meteorite...and the other person was an Alabama woman!
Here is the story from France, which of course includes this mention of the Alabama woman:
"The first confirmed case of a meteorite directly striking a person occurred in the United States almost 70 years ago.
This case involved Ann Hodges of Sylacauga, Alabama, who was struck by an 8-pound stony meteorite that crashed through her roof in November 1954. The impact left her with severe bruising."
You can see the space rock that hit her at The University of Alabama, although the display includes a reference to it being the ONLY time a person has been hit. Not anymore! 😎
