Jefferson Davis Statue at Ala. Capitol
During The Civil War
"After secession, the (Montgomery) Advertiser was named the official printer for the Confederate Congress, and (Editor Samuel G.) Reid served on the presidential reception committee for Jefferson Davis, who was inaugurated as president of the Confederate States of America on the Capitol steps in Montgomery on February 18, 1861."
"The (Montgomery) Advertiser sponsored a raffle to raise money for a gunboat and covered fund-raisers for the Confederate Army."
(I wonder how many Advertiser employees put that on their resumes in the 1800-1900's?)
