In March, "A Mobile"... ordinance that would have banned no-knock warrants failed to pass in the Mobile city council.
Now, a 16 year old has been shot and killed in his home by a Mobile officer who fired four times just after 5:30AM, using a battering ram to break into the home. They were "investigating a marijuana" violation by the teen's brother, who was not even home at the time of the raid. The 16 year old responded to the pre-dawn break-in by holding a gun aimed at the door, though he dropped the weapon when he saw those breaking in were police.
"This undated photo provided by lawyer Elizabeth Bailey, from her client Akouvi Adjessom, the mother of Randall Adjessom, shows 16-year-old Randall Adjessom posing for a portrait at his home in Mobile, Alabama. The mother of a 16-year-old who was shot by SWAT police during a no-knock, predawn raid in Alabama on Nov. 13, 2023, filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the police officers involved and the city of Mobile, alleging the teenager was “killed in cold blood.” (Akouvi Adjessom via AP)AP"
"An unnamed officer shot Adjessom four times within 11 seconds of entering his home. The lawsuit alleged that police did not provide adequate medical attention to Adjessom, who did not arrive at an emergency room that was eight minutes away until 50 minutes after he was shot."
