"Don't Know Much About His-tory..."

The report is few weeks old now, but if you haven't already heard, American students are flunking when it comes to their understanding of History. Common Core gave kids a test and found them woefully unaware. One example that hits home here in The Deep South: Fewer than half can place the Civil War in the correct half-century. You can take the test yourself on their site...scroll down on the left side of the screen, right below the photo of the "at-risk" child. I have NOT taken the test yet, but I'm working on a project at APT that's history oriented. It might not air till '09. As I mention it to folks it's amazing how few people know anything about the subject at hand! And remember...I'm the Yankee here. (-: I'll admit to not remembering three paragraphs of Civil War material from the (Northern) K-12 education, if we even had that much! You???
