Down With Ties
A story in today's Wall Street Journal says the lobbying trade group for necktie manufacturers has folded...an indication, the story says, that neckties are going out of fashion. Not for the first time, let me say good riddance to 'em. Worthless & expensive, especially here in the South. Why have we allowed ourselves to be forced to wear them all these years? Were we afraid to break ranks? IF enough people simply said "NO!" they would have been long gone years ago. As all of we baby boomers slide into retirement (or whatever we can afford to do), let's make that a final 1960's style revolution. No more ties, except perhaps for weddings and funerals.
