Twice this week a story involving a car "crossing the median", ending with a death. In Birmingham it was Dr. Jimmy Blake's lovely wife Mary-Ann who was killed when a car driven by an Auburn student crossed 280 and struck her car. The Blakes' were always generous friends during my years in Birmingham, and I grieve for their family's loss. This morning at Noon, on the way to Mobile for an APT assignment, we came across the wreck that left one person dead when the van that person was in crossed I-65 near Greenville and smashed into a tanker truck, overturning it. Two people in the van were injured, though I was not able to find their conditions. Looking at these photos, it is hard to imagine anyone survived in either vehicle. No matter how careful we are as drivers, there is always the potential for another driver taking our lives away.
