The Washington Post has a breakdown of the states' political leanings. Gallup polls taken during the first half of 2009 show Alabama to be one of only three states that have moved toward becoming more Republican...leaving Alabama the only state with a "Leaning Republican" designation. We certainly do march to the beat of a different drummer, don't we? No, that doesn't necessarily make us wrong, just out of step.

No wonder that she is better known for the prison named for her, than for her poetry.
