M(F)M(E)MM--#190 You CAN'T Hear me now?

The F.C.C. is seeking public comment on when the government has the right---if ever---to intentionally shut off cell-service to protect the public.
     How about....never.
Especially when you consider it's on the table in the first place because police did just that to block Occupy protesters in San Francisco.

I say let 'em shut down cell or any phone service with the same frequency that they shut down newspapers and broadcast facilities.
This isn't a power I want the government to have. Ever.

Disagree? How would you feel if they had done so during Tea Party protest?

[The Monday (and sometimes Friday) Morning (and sometimes evening) Media Memo is a regular feature of this website.]

[PLUS: Japanese researchers have developed a "gun" that prevents people from talking.]
