Airbus + Alabama

Read this story in Forbes about the way the new Airbus factory in Alabama changes the playing field in the aircraft business. And note this statement:

"...the Alabama-built planes will be assembled in a favorable economic climate where wage rates and work rules are more flexible than in EADS’ European home market and Boeing’s Northwest manufacturing hub."

     Translation: a non union state.
Airbus will pay Alabamians more than the state's usual low wages, but not what they would make working for Boeing in Seattle.
Alabama's "Free to Work" (WeHateUnions) status has won it another big project.

  1. Hi Tim, I am Christophe from France (i found your blog by searching news about colorado springs giant fire). This is completly crazy, in Europe EADS says that euro/dollar ratio is too high so they prefer building planes in the USA. And now they say to you that you are more flexible than us :(.

    1. Bon Jour Christophe! And thanks for leaving a comment. Many businesses will say what they need to say to earn incentives...and talk out of both sides of their mouths, if that idiom translates, if that will get them the assistance.
      Please come back again! Tim
